Hand Picked Pumpkin

Allison Case began Hand Picked Pumpkin with two things in mind - utmost comfort and some fashion standards. She wanted cute knit pants for her wee one, Pierson, that wouldn't constrict his movement while learning to crawl and walk. In her quest, she developed a modern line of limited-edition and custom baby clothing. The customization is an easy three-step process. You simply pick the garment you'd like, choosing from various signature outfits, bottoms, and more. Then, choose the appropriate size. The third step, customizing, is where the fun comes in. If you aren't feeling very creative & prefer to purchase ready-made pieces, Hand Picked Pumpkin offers those as well. Check out the Hand Picked Pumpkin blog, Notions, for information regarding sales & more.

Zestee Fashion

Holly Bar is a New Zealand artist that creates one-of-a-kind jewelry using non-traditional materials from the hardware store, such as washers, nuts and other interesting items. Zestee Fashion showcases items that are original and unique pieces of art. I love the Blossom Necklace, as well as the Daisy Necklace. And the layered pendant featured on the Rose Necklace is an innovative beauty. Holly also designs T-shirts that are printed on eco-friendly organic cotton and Bamboo shirts using a Direct to Garment printing technology. This process utilizes environmentally-friendly water-based inks, making them very 'green.' I especially like the deep purple Lakes Plant artistic shirt. Check out all the eco-friendly pieces Zestee Fashion offers.

Southern Brand

I've been out of Texas for about a month now & I have really come to appreciate some things you find in the South. You'll be hard-pressed to find biscuits and gravy up North, and people aren't too big on 'yes ma'am' and 'no sir.' Don't get me wrong, I am loving the experience of living in Pennsylvania, but my roots run deep in the South. Perhaps that is why I like Southern Brand so much. This company offers unique products like limited edition Cowhide Slip Covers, perfect for your iPod or cell phone, and cowhide koozies. Little ones will look adorable in tees declaring that they're a lil' bit country. Personally I have a long wish list that includes the Country and Southern Belle tees that have been through a vintage wash process. Of course, gentlemen have several great options available, as well.

If you find the balls to be a bit intimidating, Kitten Lab also offers earrings made using sections of the typeballs. These are definitely eye-catching pieces that will set you apart from the crowd.

Asha Patel Designs

Asha Patel Designs brings symbols of meditative peace, intuition and hope through accessories. Jewelry designer Asha Patel designs with symbolism and sentiment in mind. Branded on a leather bracelet the calming effect of the Eastern symbol OM is a reminder for peace through the balance of mind and meditation. The eye-catching labradorite bracelet promotes self-control and inner peace. Strung on a leather cord, the powerful stone is meant to delicately stand for clarity of insight and intuition. The Get Tagged Collection, my personal favorite, allows you to wear your heart around your neck. The tags are especially unique in that they are a modern-day locket with an opening for a photograph on the reverse side.

Chicago Craft Social

Mark your calendars for the next Craft Social taking place on August 14 in Evanston, IL. The event will run from 7-10pm at the Evanston Vineyard Church located at 2495 Howard St., Evanston, IL 60202. Dozens of tables will be set up in the giant lobby of the Evanston Vineyard Church & each one will feature a different project theme ranging from decoupage to jewelry making. You can bring your own project* to work on and sit with other people doing their own thing, or pick a table and join a project leader who will show you how to make something cool. Zedena Designs

Melissa Williams of Zedena Designs creates unique jewelry using enamel, glass & metal. She says that her love for jewelry has been apparent since she was a young girl. The designer recalls playing Home Shopping Network with her grandmother, Zedena, raiding her jewelry box and then "selling" her her favorite pieces. Melissa's designs began by wrapping multi-colored telephone wire into rings and bracelets. Her designs have evolved since then to include enamel, copper, sterling & fine silver and genuine Swarovski crystals. I love the enamel pendants Heart of Glass and Flutter. She also does custom work for Brides and Bridal Parties or any special occasion.

*GIVEAWAY - Closed: Enter to win an enamel pendant titled Itty Bitty Enamel Heart. Simply visit Zedena Designs and leave a comment on this post noting your favorite design. Giveaway ends at Midnight EST, Thursday, July 23.

Smile for Suzy

Suzanne Elizondo of Smile for Suzy discovered shrinky dinks as an adult and fell in love with making things out of them. She now utilizes the "shrinky" material to create off-beat earrings that interact with each other. Fresh out of college, Suzy tries to tell a funny or unusual story with her designs. Chubby rodents are always on the look out for a nice chunk of cheese. And knitters know their ball of yarn is never safe with a feline around. The delicious cupcakes and bacon & eggs are two appetizing designs. Of course, you know what they say...the early bird gets the worm! As you can see, Suzanne's designs are playful & will add a touch of whimsy to your wardrobe.

Deb's blog showcases her wonderful photographs, as well as details of her crafty endeavors and upcoming workshops. One of my favorite projects posted on her blog is the Pockets of Dreams dress featuring Deb's photographs of young girls in Isla Mujeres where she lived in Mexico. The dress pays homage to innocent victims that were murdered and did not have a chance to grow up. View more of Deb Taylor's photography on Flickr.

Chloe the Hot Dog & Friends

Jessica DeJohn is a dog lover like myself. Her work is primarily influenced by her Dachshund Chloe, hence the name of her shop, Chloe the Hot Dog & Friends. Jessica's paintings portray adorable pooches & exude love, which I think we could all use a daily dose of. Doxie Love Floating Hearts is a fun original painting featuring two adorable tan dachshunds in love. Dachshund Love is another great love-filled piece. I also like the pieces that incorporate funky retro flowers, such as Retro Flower Doxie with Bird. And Retro Long Doxie is a super bright painting that features retro flowers ON a long Dachshund! Check out the Chloe the Doxie Love blog to see Jessica & Chloe's many adventures.

*GIVEAWAY: Enter to win an 8"x10" print of the painting titled Chloe the Dachsund. Visit Chloe the Hot Dog & Friends and leave a comment on this post noting your favorite piece. Giveaway ends at Midnight EST, Saturday, July 11.

Chalkboard China will be debuting "Chalk it for the Cure" at the upcoming Dallas Home & Gift Market, June 24th – 30th at the Dallas Market Center. "Chalk It For the Cure" launch parties will be held in the John R Walker Showroom, World Trade Center #209. All buyers are invited to participate in "Chalk It For the Cure," by signing their name in chalk on one of Chalkboard China's new Pink Ribbon Cylinder vases, signifying their support for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and breast cancer awareness. Donations collected in the vases at the Home & Gift market will be a great start to the many dollars that Chalkboard China plans to raise. Part of the proceeds from every PINK RIBBON vase sold will go to the foundation.
